Quality of Life of Patients with Colorectal Cancer Receiving the Home Chemotherapy Service and Caregivers during the Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract
The purposes of this mixed method study were to determine and to examine intensely the quality of life of patients receiving home chemotherapy and caregivers. The sample was purposive sampling from 71 participants who included 35 colon cancer patients, 36 caregivers. The instruments for collecting the quantitative data were the questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The qualitative data was collected by the opened questions for interviewing and analyzed using content analysis.
The results of this study showed that the mean scores of qualities of life of patients and caregivers were at a moderate level (𝑥̅ =80.6, SD=13.52; 𝑥̅ =94.4, SD=15.2 respectively). From the in-depth interviewing, both cancer patients and caregivers had the likely good quality of life. They were able to do the daily activities and their works and normal relationship with family and social. In particular psychological domain, both felt familiars, comfortable, convenient in every life except the complications of the physical including pain in the injection, rash, and diarrhea. However, they can manage those symptoms. Therefore, home chemotherapy should be one of the choice treatments for patients with colon cancer.
