Abstract

     


This research and development has the objectives 1) to study the situation of the need for instructional materials of students studying in the third year Bachelor of Nursing Science Program in the Maternal and Newborn Nursing and Midwifery I Subject Among Nursing


Students, Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Uttaradit  2) to create video materials to enhance childbirth skills; and 3) to compare the students' knowledge about childbirth before and after school with video materials to enhance childbirth skills. The implementation phase consisted of three steps as follows: 1) Survey research was used to study the situation of the need for instructional media of third-year students studying in the Bachelor of Nursing Science Program. The tool used was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. 2) Developed and examined the quality of video media by using the results of the research in Step 1 and the literature review to develop video media to enhance childbirth skills . 3) To


study the effectiveness of video media for enhancing childbirth skills in the third year Bachelor of Nursing Science Program in the Maternal and Newborn Nursing and Midwifery I Subject Among Nursing Students, Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Uttaradit  used a quasi-experimental research methodology, a pre- and post-experimental measurement group. The samples used were The samples were 67 students studying in the third year Bachelor of Nursing Science program. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and paired t-test.


          The results showed that;


          1. Problems and needs for using self-study media about requesting to use the laboratories for a limited period of time 34.62%, the delivery manikin in the laboratories is insufficient, 26.15%, the teaching materials about delivery are not up-to-date. The materials in the video are not the same as today. Lack of details for some practical steps, 17.69 percent. There was a need for the type of learning media outside of the course. It was found that 79.23 percent of students needed video media the most. followed by media from youtube 56.15 percent and online lessons (E-learning) 40 percent and found that students most needed learning materials on childbirth at 35.38 percent, followed by learning materials on Maternity check-up 17.69% and placenta examination learning media 6.15%


          2. Video materials to enhance childbirth skills, total length 30 minutes. This video contains contents about childbirth skills in eight steps 1) Preparation of equipment for delivery 2) Preparation of the birth 3) Preparation 4) genital scrubs 5) antenatal preparation 6) evaluating progress of the parturient cheering 7) Examination of the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck. shoulder caesarean section caesarean section 8) Neonatal Condition Assessment


          3. After learning with video media, the students' average scores for knowledge about childbirth were higher than before learning with video media. with statistical significance at the .001 level. with an average score of 109.77 (SD = 8.97) out of a full score of 148, and satisfaction with the video media. Overall, it was at a high level (Mean = 4.79, SD = .11).
