The Effect of an Online Games-Based Learning about Comprehensive Sex Education Integration on Knowledge and Satisfaction of Secondary School Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to develop an online game-based learning in comprehensive sex education (CSE-GBL) and study the effect of integrating online CSE-GBL on the knowledge and satisfaction of learners. The sample consisted of 1,152 Mathayomsuksa 1 students (7th graders) from 6 secondary schools of secondary educational service area office 34 in Chiang Mai Province, using simple random sampling. One group pretest-posttest design was used. The data were collected by using the CSE knowledge test and the satisfaction level of online GBL integration. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, range, E1/E2, and Dependent t-test.
The results showed that 1) the result of the efficiency (E1/E2) was at 89.66/ 86.73 2) the post-test learning achievement of the students was higher than the pre-test at the statistical significance level of .001 and 3) a total satisfaction level was high ( X = 3.98, SD= .34). The results of this research support that CSE-GBL can potentially contribute particularly to the teaching of sexual health literacy to adolescents. It can be used to improve the learning processes of the CSE curriculum in secondary school, and the application of technology in teaching and learning.
