Development of Learning and Teaching Process for Nursing Students at SuandusitUniversity.

Abstract
This mixed method study aimed to examine learning styles of nursing students and teaching patterns of teachers in the professional subject group, both in theory and practice subjects, at Faculty of Nursing, Suandusit University; and also to develop Learning and teaching process in these subjects in accordance to learning and teaching style in the 21st Century. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and content analysis method. The results of the study showed that: 1) Learning styles of nursing students evaluated by VARK survey were: 30.90 % of nursing students learned by Reading/Writing (R), 26.31 % learned by auditory method (A), 24.15 % learned by Kinesthetic method (K),and 18.64% learned by Visualizing (V). For teachers, 30.00 % of them learned by Reading/Writing (R), 26.67 %learned by auditory method (A), 23.33 % learned by Kinesthetic method (K),20% learned by Visualizing(V). 2) Teaching styles in accordance to Grasha (1994), nursing students reported that teachers used themselves as role models at the high level ( = 3.95, SD =.74), followed by teaching styles as teachers (
= 3.90, SD =.74). 3) Teaching and learning patterns of teachers in the professional subject group, both in theory and practice subjects included: 1) learning and teaching process focused on group process and teamwork 2) teaching less, but learning more class activities 3) focusing on creativity based approach and 4) using technology in teaching and learning methods.
