Abstract

This study aimed to identify the components and indicators of adaptive leadership in the disruptive era for bachelor of nursing science students.  A stratified sample of 500 head and deputy head nurses from wards or patient departments in public and private hospitals across 14 southern provinces of Thailand was recruited.  Data were collected using a questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. The instrument's validity ranged from .67 to 1.00, and its Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient was .98. Data were analyzed using percentages, means, standard deviations, and exploratory factor analysis (principal component analysis with varimax rotation).

The results identified five components of adaptive leadership in the disruptive era for   bachelor of nursing science students, comprising a total of 46 indicators: 1) Knowledge Management (11 indicators, component weights 0.608 - 0.730); 2) Cultural Competency (9 indicators, component weights 0.648-0.758); 3) Adaptive Challenges (10 indicators, component weights 0.502 - 0.659); 4) Resilience Capability (8 indicators, component weights 0.535-0.685); and 5) Foresight Capability (8 indicators, component weights 0.541 - 0.764). These five components explained 55.72%, 4.79%, 4.15%, 2.58%, and 2.28% of the variance, respectively, with a cumulative variance of 69.514% and eigenvalues ranging from 1.140 to 27.860.

These identified components and indicators can serve as guidelines for nursing institutions in designing models to enhance adaptive leadership skills among nursing students in the disruptive era.
