This randomized controlled trial aimed to study the effects of a health literacy promotion program, delivered via the Line application, on health literacy and physical activity behaviors of local administration employees in Mueang Ratchaburi District, Ratchaburi Province. The study applied the health literacy framework of the Health Education Division from the Department of Health Service Support. The sample included 114 local government employees, randomly divided into an experimental group (57 people) and a control group (57 people). The experimental group received the health literacy promotion program via the Line application for 8 weeks, while the control group did not receive any program. Data was collected using a personal information questionnaire, a health literacy assessment on physical activity, and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. The content validity score of instruments was 1.0, with reliability scores of 0.977 and 0.983, respectively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-test, and the independent t-test. The results showed as follows.
1. After receiving the program, people in the experimental group had a significantly higher mean score in health literacy regarding physical activity, compared to the control group (p-value < 0.05).
2. After receiving the program, the experimental group had significantly higher physical activity behavior scores, compared to the control group (p-value < 0.05).
The program can be used as a guideline for healthcare professionals, such as community nurse practitioners, to enhance health literacy and promote physical activity among the working-age population through social media, in line with the "Next Normal" concept.
