Complications and Health Behaviors among Persons Undergone Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
Keywords:
Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, CABG, Complications, Health BehaviorAbstract
This descriptive article highlighted complications and health behaviors among coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) patients after surgery. These two issues are prime concern to persons’self-care when returning home. The complications that may occur after CABG include infections of surgical wounds on the outside and inside thoracic, as well as pain and swelling of the skin graft, resulting in a recurrent coronary artery disease. Repeated treatments are necessary as a consequence. Self-care behaviors of patients include medication, exercise, wound care, good eating habits, stress management, and regular doctor visits. These health behaviors affect the individual's health and daily life activities. Hence, public health personnel as well as caregivers should focus on the patients’ health behaviors in order to prevent complications and recurrent coronary artery disease.
