Negotiation and Conflict Management in the Thai Public Health System

Abstract

The aim of this article was to present a negotiation process in order to reduce conflicts between the health service system and the citizens of Thailand.Conflict between the health service system and the public are important in Thailand. The government looks at the importance of health insurance as a target. The health service system has changed, due to more knowledge of people, as well as enhancement of access to  medical technologies and treatment rights. Many years ago, there was various conflicts led to medical lawsuits, organ loss, property loss, and dead people which severe conditions. The conflict was between patients, patient's family, hospital, and health system. Nowadays, we need to apply negotiation techniques in conflict management, in order to reduce conflict and to improve the central public role of the health system and its image as a key factor in social cohesion.
