Development of a Model for Improving Job Performance of Village Health Volunteers from in Trang Municipality, Trang Province

This action research study aimed to develop a model for improving the job performance of village health volunteers in Trang Municipality, Trang Province. The research was divided into 3 phases. Phase 1 aimed to analyze the situation and, therefore, identify factors affecting the job effectiveness of health volunteers from villages who were working in Trang City. Phase 2 aimed to develop a model for improving job performance of these health volunteers, including model experimentation and model satisfaction. Phase 3 consisted in model improvement. Participants were 140 village health volunteers from 48 different villages. The opinion towards the model implementation was assessed by 278 samples in the community, using a questionnaire. Data were collected from October 2016 to March 2017. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, correlation coefficients, Chi-square test, and t-test. Results revealed the following.
1. Only job performance factors was significantly affecting an effectiveness of job performance of village health volunteers (p<.01)
2. Model for improving job performance of the village health volunteers composed three main factors including personal factors, job performance factors, and supporting factors. Each factor consisted of activities that could improve job performance effectiveness of the village health volunteers.
3. After using the model, job performance effectiveness of the village health volunteers was significantly higher than before using the model (p<.01).
