Abstract

This Research and Development (R&D) study’s objectives were to develop several nursing students learning outcome assessment tools during their practice in Family and   community nursing I subject, and to analyze the results.  Participants were 437 third-Year nursing   students during academic year 2559–2561. Research instruments were the six domains of   learning outcome assessment tools that were developed the researchers.  Data were analyzed   by using mean, standard deviation, and percentage.

The results revealed that the six following domains of learning outcome assessment tools were developed: family nursing skills, school-health service skills, occupational service skills, family nursing report, school health report, occupational health report, and group discussion assessment tools.  Validity and reliability of assessment tools were measured by Cronbach’ alpha coefficient, yielding between .87- .96, which were high to very high score.  In terms of the results of the students for their family and community nursing I Practicum, the   learning outcomes of the nursing students in academic year 2018 revealed that the mean score  was equal to 77.98, the highest mean score was in the domain of ethics and moral learning  outcome (12.59 over 14 score, 89.93%). And the lowest mean score was in the domain of cognitive skills (18.05 over 25 score, 72.21%). The satisfaction of stakeholders using the Learning outcome assessment tools was at a very high level (M=4.57, SD=0.46).

The assessment tools that were developed can be used as a standard evaluation assessment form in Family and Community I Practicum. In addition, it could be further applied in other nursing practicum courses, and adapt according to the relevant activities that could enable nurse instructors to find out which learning outcome of the students need to be improved and supported.
