Non-technical skills are the cognitive (decision-making, situation-awareness) and interpersonal (communication, teamwork, leadership) skills that underpin technical proficiency, and are considered particularly important for preventing errors. This concept can also be applied to the context of heath care services that leads to patient safety, minimize negligence, and increase quality of technical skills as well as improve students attitude towards patient safety. For the provision of nursing education, particularly nursing practice, these are the recommended methods in order to develop non-technical skills: 1) building situational awareness or perception by increasing effective sensation and building situational understanding for students through the various and different experiences, 2) practicing communication skills by using international and effective communication and dialogue process, 3) developing team working skills, 4) enhancing assertiveness or creative argument, 5) developing leadership skill, and 6) instilling virtue and ethics.
