Abstract

The practical nurse is a healthcare team member, with an important role in the health service system. The practical nurse has a role to help and alleviate the workload of the healthcare team, especially in the field of primary care in the health service system. This article has gathered knowledge of the role of the practical nurse in health service, primary care unit, university hospitals, covering healthcare in 4 components: the role of health promotion assistant, the role of disease prevention assistant, the role of treatment assistant, and the role of health rehabilitation assistant to patient. The practical nurse ensures safety, and satisfaction in holistic care including physical, mental, and spiritual for good quality and standards of health services for patients to have a good quality of life.
