Abstract

This research and development study aimed to identify the problems and need, develop a model, and assess the effectiveness of health literacy in promoting 3E 2S behaviors among older people in Lampang province. The participants had been divided into three groups: 1) 385 older people were recruited to investigate problems, needs, and situations, 2) 20 public health professionals who were tasked with promoting health, along with 20 older individuals, and 3) 52 individuals were recruited to participate in this study. These individuals had been divided into an experimental and control group. The research instrument demonstrated a content validity index of 0.80, and its Cronbach’s alpha coefficient reached 0.83.The gathered information was subjected to content analysis, frequency distribution, and test statistic analysis.

The results showed that the health literacy problems and requirements according to the 3E 2S behaviors were found to be at a moderate level of severity (mean=2.12, S.D.= .65) The investigation into the model of health literacy among the elderly, based on 3E 2S behaviors, revealed that following utilization, the older people demonstrated an enhancement in both health knowledge and the 3E 2S behaviors. The experimental group exhibited superior mean scores in health literacy and health behaviors, as well as lower mean scores in cumulative sugar intake, prior to the trial. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference          (p< 0.05) between the experimental and control groups, with the former showing a notable difference compared to the latter
