Nursing and midwifery practitioners need two skills, hard skills, and soft skills, which are equally essential. Hard skills deal with the academic skill which use for the operation to be by professional standards. Soft skills will lead the practitioners to be successful in working on Humanize Nursing Care.
Soft skills deal with emotional and socializing skills which are rather abstract and more difficult to measure and evaluate than academic skills. Soft skills derive from learning, working experience, practicing, working with others. Soft skills are specific and necessary for the nursing profession, they are cover emotional intelligence skills, communication skills, interaction with other skills, leadership skills, teamwork skills, analytical thinking skills, creative thinking skills, and problems solving skills.
These skills suit and conform to core competencies for nursing and midwifery practitioners which sets by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. It is important and necessary to develop soft skills for practitioners by approaching through training programs and learning management meanwhile measurement and evaluating should be managed continuously. Each organization may select some soft skills that math up core competencies or need to develop which will be a benefit to the nursing profession, colleagues, and service recipients.
