Abstract

This study was a quasi-experimental research using a two-group, pretest-posttest design. The purpose of this research aimed to study the results of using the nutritional knowledge application for thin pre-school children among caregivers. The subjects of this study were 70 caregivers, aged 20-59 years, living in the same house as the children. Their main role is nutritional care and there is a mobile phone with the Android operating system that can access the internet. The subjects were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups, with 35 patients in each group. The experimental group received regular care together with a nutritional knowledge application for thin pre-school children for caregivers. The control group received routine care. The research tools are nutritional knowledge application for thin pre-school children for caregivers and the nutritional knowledge questionnaire of thin pre-school children for caregivers in which the Kuder-Richadson was .71. Descriptive statistics and t-test were used to analyze the data.  The results of the study were follows. The mean nutritional knowledge scores for thin preschool children of caregivers in the experimental group after the experiment (M = .90, S.D. = .01) was significantly higher than before the experiment (M = .63, S.D. = .03) (t = 8.34, p < .05) and the mean nutritional knowledge scores for thin preschool children of caregivers in the experimental group after the experiment (M = .90, S.D. = .01) was significantly higher than the control group (M = .70, S.D. = .01) (t = 8.96, p < .05). The study findings showed that using the app in conjunction with usual care provided caregivers with more accurate nutritional knowledge, leading to more appropriate preschool parenting behaviors.
