Guidelines for Authors
Urban Disease Prevention and Control Institute Journal
Scope of the Journal and Article Types
The Urban Disease Prevention and Control Institute Journal welcomes academic articles and research reports related to diseases and health hazards, as well as works on disease prevention and control. Submitted manuscripts must not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication in any other journal. The editorial board reserves the right to review and edit manuscripts and will consider publication based on the suitability and the order of submission.
Manuscript Submission
The Urban Disease Prevention and Control Institute Journal is an academic journal aimed at disseminating research publications, including:
Submitted manuscripts must not have been published or under consideration elsewhere. The editorial board reserves the right to review, edit, and consider manuscripts for publication in order of submission.
The editorial board will notify authors upon acceptance of manuscripts. Manuscripts not accepted for publication will be informed, but original documents will not be returned.

No fees are charged at any stage of the publication process.
Ethical Guidelines for Authors
Adherence to Ethical Standards
Authors must demonstrate compliance with research ethics. Ethical considerations must be included in the Methods section, including approval from an ethics committee and informed consent procedures for human studies. Research involving human participants must adhere to the Declaration of Helsinki (2008). Authors must provide the approved research project number from the ethics committee, along with references to laboratory standards or other relevant guidelines if applicable.
Original research involving humans must have approval from an ethics committee. Authors must include the project approval number, committee name, affiliated institution, and describe the consent process from participants.
Human research testing medical products (e.g., drugs, medical devices, food supplements, or medical procedures) constitutes clinical trials and must be registered in a clinical trial registry such as ClinicalTrials.gov.
Animal research must have approval from an animal research ethics committee, and details (committee name, reference number, etc.) must be provided.
Plagiarism
All submissions are screened for plagiarism through the Thaijo system. Academic papers must not exceed 30% similarity, and research papers must not exceed 25%.
Manuscript Preparation
Language
Manuscripts may be written in Thai or English. For Thai articles, tables, figures, and references must be in Thai. For English articles, titles, author names, abstracts, and keywords must also be in English.

Original and Review Articles: Thai 3,500–4,500 words; English 2,500–3,500 words; up to 5 tables/figures

Perspectives, Opinions, and Case Reports: Thai 1,600–2,400 words; English 1,200–1,800 words; up to 3 tables/figures

Miscellany: Thai ≤2,400 words; English ≤1,800 words

Letters to the Editor: Thai ≤1,500 words; English ≤1,100 words
Article Structure
Original Articles: Title page, English abstract & keywords, Thai abstract & keywords (for Thai manuscripts), Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References, Tables/Figures with captions.
Review Articles: Narrative reviews may be flexible; systematic reviews should follow PRISMA guidelines.
Perspectives & Opinions: Should present viewpoints or experiences in public health, supported by evidence. Structure: background, analysis, discussion of strengths/limitations, and conclusions.
Case Reports: Reports of unusual cases or new/rare conditions with clear documentation. Include Introduction, Case Description, Discussion/Observations, References.
Miscellany: Short articles not fitting other categories, e.g., brief reports, clinical notes, or preliminary studies.
Letters to the Editor: Responses to previously published articles, addressing discrepancies or errors. Begin with “Dear Editor,” end with author name, academic position, and affiliation; references ≤15.
Title Page
Include concise title, author names with superscript numbers for affiliations, and corresponding author contact details (address, email, phone). Include research ethics, author contributions, acknowledgments, funding sources, and conflicts of interest.
Abstract & Keywords

Original & Review Articles: Thai abstract ≤300 words, extended English abstract 500–600 words. Include key points: objectives, methods, results, discussion/recommendations.

English articles: English abstract ≤250 words. List 3–5 keywords under each abstract.
Main Text
Original Articles: Introduction, objectives, methods (data sources, collection, sampling, research tools, statistical analysis), results with evidence, discussion with references, limitations/strengths, conclusions, and recommendations.
Review Articles: State novelty and rationale. Include overview, research gaps, neutral and balanced presentation.
Systematic Reviews: Follow PRISMA guidelines.
Perspectives: Novel insights on public health issues, supported by evidence. Include background, interpretation, discussion, and conclusions.
Opinions: Author’s viewpoints on public health theory or hypotheses, supported by reliable references or personal expertise, to stimulate academic discussion.

Figures may include charts, illustrations, photos, etc. Charts should be created using software (MS Excel, GraphPad, etc.). Photos in JPEG or TIFF format. Word figures may be DOC/DOCX. Minimum resolution: 600 dpi (B/W), 1200 dpi (color).
Author Contributions
All authors must contribute according to ICMJE guidelines: ICMJE Author Roles
Funding Disclosure
State funding sources and the role of funders. If none, indicate: “No funding was received” or “The author funded this study independently.”
Conflict of Interest
Declare any personal or institutional relationships that may influence study outcomes.
Acknowledgments
Acknowledge contributors who are not authors in a single paragraph.
References
Use Vancouver style. Cite references in text as superscript (1, 2, 3). For non-English references, indicate the language in parentheses. For more than six authors, list the first six followed by “et al.” Journal names may be abbreviated per Index Medicus/NLM.
