Main Article Content
Abstract
The study was a descriptive research. The purposes were to examine the level of quality of life among the cancer patients, and to compare the quality of life among those patients regarding factors including gender, age, income, education, marital status, kind of cancer, and disease stage. The samples were cancer patients residing in Chiangkham District, Phayao Province. The study was conducted during September to October 2017. There were 92 cases samples using the purposive sampling. Data were collected using the World Health Organization Quality of Life assessment instrument: WHOQOL-BREF-THAI. Data were analyzed using the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Independent t-test and one way ANOVA.
The results showed that the mean score for overall quality of life was moderate (Mean = 79.61, S.D=9.83). There were significant differences in quality of life scores for the cancer patients who had different age, education levels, income and disease stage (p< .05). However, the quality of life scores of the cancer patients who had different gender, marital status, and kind of cancer were not significantly different. The results can be used as fundamental information to develop more inclusive care plan to enhance quality of life among cancer patients with different factors.
