A Survey of Occupational Health Hazards at the Center for Primary Care and Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University

Introduction: Primary healthcare workers are at risk of exposure to workplace occupational health hazards leading to occupational illness and injury.
Objective: To examine occupational health hazards at the Center for Primary Care and Applied Thai Traditional Medicine (CPCATTM), Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University.
Methodology: This descriptive study used a survey design and conducted at nine departments of the CPCATTM, Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University. All population from nine departments was recruited to the study. s Data were collected using interview form and non-participant observation for Walkthrough survey (WTS). Data were analyzed using frequency and percentage.
Results: Major occupational health hazards at CPCATTM were ergonomic (27.27%), chemical (21.21%), physical and psychosocial (18.18%), and biological (15.15%), respectively.
Conclusion: Ergonomic health hazards (awkward posture, static posture, and repetitive motion) were the major occupational health hazards of primary health care units.
Implications for practice: Primary health care units should have a health-promotion and prevention policy, particularly work-related musculoskeletal disorder which impacts directly and indirectly on ergonomic health hazards.
