The Effect of Motivation Formation Program with Mobile Technology for Health to Prevent Cardiovascular Disease in High Risk Group

This research and development study aimed to: 1) examine food consumption culture and factors association. The quasi-experimental study aimed to examine the effect of health protection motivation with mobile health program to prevent cardiovascular disease in elderly high-risk group. Participants were screened using the Thai CV risk score. Sixty elderly participants (both male and female) who reported a score of 20% or above were recruited into the study. Then, 30 participants were assigned to the intervention group and 30 to the comparison group. The experimental group received group education, learning from role models, and skilled practice with info graphic and video clip via Line application. A set of self-administered questionnaires was used to collect data from participants 3 times (baseline, immediately after the intervention, and one-month after intervention). Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, Chi-square, Fisher's Exact test, Independent t-test, and one-way repeated measure ANOVA.
Results showed that one month after intervention, the intervention group reported significantly higher perceived severity than baseline, and the comparison group (Mean = 15.60, SD=2.08; Mean = 13.70, SD = 1.37; Mean = 14.07, SD = 1.82; p < .001, respectively). The comparison between groups on mean score of immediately after the intervention and one-month after intervention showed that the intervention group had significant better preventive behavior than those in the comparison group (t = 3.02, p = .004; t = 2.88, p = .006, respectively).
This study demonstrated that the health protection motivation with mobile health program with info graphic could enhance preventive behavior for cardiovascular disease prevention in high-risk group. This program could potentially be used in different areas to prevent new cardiovascular case.
