Clinical Nursing Practice Guideline: Nursing Care in Colorectal Cancer with Colostomy Procedure Patients Collaborative with Multidisciplinary Team

The purposes of this quasi-experimental research were to test the effects of the pre-postoperative nursing care management in colorectal cancer with colostomy procedure patients collaborative with multidisciplinary team: clinical nursing practice guideline utilization on the recovery and incident rate of postoperative complication in PraNakhon Sri Ayutthaya hospital. A sample of 60 patients for colorectal cancer with colostomy procedure was recruited by purposive sampling. The clinical nursing practice guideline utilization was developed using the evidence based practice model of Soukup (2000) as an effect of the pre-postoperative nursing care management in colorectal cancer with colostomy
procedure patients were developed based on the literature review and the Symptom Management Model (Dodd et al., 2001) conceptual framework. Data was collected on 24 hours, 7th, 14th, and 30th day after the clinical nursing practice guideline. The research instruments consisted of: 1) the experimental instruments was the clinical nursing practice guideline utilization with colostomy procedure; and
2) the instruments for collecting data including the Bhumipol Adulyadej hospital Nutritional Triage (BNT) assessment, the Studio Alterazoni Cutanee Stomale (SACSTM) skin assessment, Bowel function assessment, and Satisfaction Questionnaires. Data were analyzed using One-Way Repeated Measures ANOVA statistics. The results revealed that the BNT, SACSTM, Bowel function of the patient
was improved significantly after the clinical nursing practice guideline finished, and there was a high
level for patients’ satisfaction with the clinical nursing practice guideline.
