Abstract

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study employed a two-group pretest-posttest design to assess the impact of a caregiving model for elderly caregivers, supported by community and network partners. Conducted from January 2023 to August 2024 across three districts in Ubon Ratchathani Province, the study included 74 participants (37 in the experimental group and 37 in the control group). The intervention, the "NEST" model (Network for Elder Support), was designed to improve caregiving knowledge and practices among elderly caregivers. Data collection included assessments of caregiver knowledge, caregiving behavior, and satisfaction with the model, and the tools were validated for content and reliability using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Descriptive statistics and independent t-tests were applied for data analysis.

The results indicated significant improvements in knowledge and caregiving behavior scores in the experimental group (p < .05), with elderly caregivers reporting high satisfaction with the model (M = 4.31, SD = .38, range: 3.50–4.90). These findings suggested that the NEST model was an effective framework for community-based elderly care and could be adapted for chronic illness and long-term care contexts.
