ABSTRACT
This research aims to study attitude, case- based learning ability and learning achievement of the children and adolescents nursing practicum course in the third-year nursing students, Walailak University, and study the relationship among attitude, case -based learning ability and learning achievement of the nursing students. Research population and samples consisted of 82 the third-year nursing students in term 3/2560 of the Institute of Nursing, Walailak University. The attitude, learning ability in case - based learning assessment instruments were used to collect the data. Reliability of the instruments was at 0.90, 0.81 respectively. The data were collected by the questionnaire instrument and the evaluation form of the case-based learning ability. The data were analyzed by frequency, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. The results revealed that;
1) The samples were 95.1 percent female (n=78), the age range was 20-23 years old. Their grade point average at the high school were 3.55 (S.D.= .25) and their current grade point average were 2.79 (S.D.= .32).
2) The mean score of the attitude was 3.99 (S.D.= .39). The overall mean score of case- based learning ability of the nursing students was 7.93 (range= 7.14-9.16). The relationship between attitude and case-based learning ability were significantly at weak correlation (r= .24, p<.05). The relationship between attitude and learning achievement were significantly at moderate correlation (r= .32, p<.05). The relationship between case- based learning ability and learning achievement were significantly at strong correlation (r= .80, p<.001).
This study showed that attitude, and case- based learning ability can develop the learning achievement as well. Therefore, the teacher should be encouraged to apply the case -based learning in the university.
