The study was conducted in two phases. In phase I, quantitative data were collected from 91 officers using surveys to assess their health literacy, CVD prevention behaviors, and CVD risk levels. Qualitative data were collected from 27 officers through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews. Phase II involved 51 officers and 28 stakeholders who participated in focus groups and interviews to refine the health promotion model. Content analysis was used to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data. The results showed that:

1. while most officers had multiple CVD risk factors, their short-term (10-year) risk of CVD death or illness was low. Self-reported health literacy was fair to poor, and overall health behaviors were fair. Qualitative data confirmed a mix of healthy and unhealthy habits.

2. The three-stage health promotion model developed through this PAR process addresses: 1) raising awareness about the need for change, 2) setting goals for modifying health behaviors, and 3) promoting self-care sustainability through organizational and family support. After six months of participation, over half of the officers reported improved health literacy (good to very good), and all participants demonstrated positive behavior changes to reduce CVD risk factors. Additionally, 47.06% and 31.37% of officers showed reductions in CVD risk scores and risk levels, respectively.

This study highlights the importance of awareness as a starting point for behavior change to reduce CVD risk factors among police officers. Furthermore, the model emphasizes the crucial role of family and organizational support in sustaining healthy behaviors.
2024-06-19T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nursing and Education https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/JNAE/article/view/267292 A Care Management Model to Prevent Falls among Patients with Disabilities in a Ward at the Veterans General Hospital 2024-04-23T12:12:26+07:00 Wongkea Mooseeton wongkea.ple@gmail.com Kanjana Srisawad Saisamorn2006@hotmail.com Saisamorn Chaleoykitti Saisamorn2006@hotmail.com
This research and development aimed: 1) to create a model of care management to prevent falls of patients with disabilities in a ward at the Veterans General Hospital, 2) to study the rate of falls after using the new model, and 3) to study the satisfaction of professional nurses towards new model of care management. Research was divided in two phases. Phase 1 was dedicated to creating a care management model to prevent falls of patients with disabilities in the ward, using the 3C-PDCA concept, including 5 steps: a) 3C analysis, b) planning, c) practice, d) inspection and e) improvement. A multidisciplinary team of doctors and professional nurses were selected as key informants for participating in a focus group. Phase 2 was dedicated to effectively using the care management model. The sample group comprised 12 professional nurses. The instruments for this research and development were: 1) several group discussion topics, 2) a fall-risk assessment form for patient with disabilities, and 3) a satisfaction assessment form for professional nurses. Content validity value of instruments was between 0.6 - 1.00. Data were analyzed by using statistic development, content analysis and Chi-square test. The results revealed as follows.

1. The format of model consisted of: 1) a physical examination and assessment of disable patients' condition, 2) identification of patients and risk-factors assessment for falls for each, 3) the implementation or care as planned, 4) the monitoring and evaluation and, finally, 5) promoting the model in terms of policy.

2. The results showed that: 1) rate of falls after using the model was significantly reduced, at the .001 level, 2) satisfaction of professional nurses after using the model was at the highest level (M = 4.88, SD = 0.18).

Therefore, this model can be used in hospital wards with similar context in order to prevent fall of patient with disabilities.
2024-06-19T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nursing and Education https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/JNAE/article/view/269085 The Effects of a Self-Efficacy Promoting Program Using Digital Media on Caregiving Preparedness and Role Strain among Caregivers of Intermediate-Care Patients 2024-04-16T17:30:47+07:00 Jiratya Julamon jiratya95@gmail.com Utthawit Jansiri utthawit.ice@gmail.com
This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of a self-efficacy promoting program by using digital media on caregiving preparedness and role strain among caregivers of intermediate- care patients. The samples consisted for 52 caregivers of intermediate-care patients, selected by inclusion criteria. They were equally assigned either into an experimental group or control group (26 per group). Whilst the subjects in the control group received standard care, those in the experimental group were undergoing a 3-week self-efficacy promoting program based on the conceptual framework of self-efficacy model. The data were collected between November 2023 and February 2024, inclusively. Data collection comprised demographic data as well as two questionnaires: one on readiness to provide care, and the other on caregiver’s role strain. Content validity index of those instruments was 1.0, and reliability yielded .94 and .97, respectively. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, chi-square, independent t-test and paired t-test. The results showed that:

1. After receiving the self-efficacy promoting program, the readiness to provide care of the experimental group increased significantly (p-value <.001), while the caregiver’s role strain decreased significantly (p-value <.001).

2. In addition, the experimental group’s readiness to provide care was significantly higher than that of the control group (p-value < .001), and a caregiver’s role strain was significantly lower than that of the control group (p-value < .001).

Therefore, this self-efficacy promoting program can be used caregivers of Intermediate care patients for enhanced readiness to provide care and reduce the caregiver’s role strain.
2024-06-20T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nursing and Education https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/JNAE/article/view/269175 Comparison of Relationship Between Health Belief Model and Cervical Cancer Screening Among Women Aged 30-60 years in Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province 2024-04-16T17:35:18+07:00 Pittayarat Jikyong pittayarat_ji@cmu.ac.th Noppcha Singweratham noppcha@cmu.ac.th Sineenar Chautrakarn sineenart.c@cmu.ac.th
This is cross-sectional study to investigate association between health belief model and cervical cancer screening among women Aged 30-60 years in Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province.
