Effects of Self-Efficacy Promoting Program on Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders in Preventive Behaviors Among Golf Bag Carriers in A Golf Couse, Banglamung, Chonburi
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research is a quasi-experimental study with a two-group pretest-posttest design. This study aimed to investigate the effect of a self-efficacy enhancement program on preventive behaviors against musculoskeletal disorders among golf bag carriers. The sample group consisted of golf bag carriers from a golf course in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. A purposive selection process was used, based on predefined criteria, for a total of 90 individuals, divided into an experimental group of 45 and a control group of 45. The research tools included 1) a self-efficacy promotion program for back pain prevention behaviors. 2) Questionnaire on perceived self-efficacy in preventing musculoskeletal disorders. and 3) a questionnaire on preventive behaviors for musculoskeletal disorders. The reliability of the questionnaire was determined using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and was found to be .73 and .71, respectively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired sample t-test, and independent t-test.
The research findings showed that 1) after receiving the program, the experimental group had a higher average self-efficacy score regarding behaviors to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The average scores for muscle pain prevention behaviors and muscle flexibility were significantly higher after participating in the program than after, at a statistical significance level of p<.001. And significantly higher than the control group at the statistical level of p<.001.
2) After receiving the program, the experimental group had significantly lower average ergonomic risk scores and average muscle pain level scores than before participating in the program at the statistical significance level of p<.001. And significantly lower than the control group at the statistical level of p<.001.
The findings of this study can be used as a guideline for preparing employees in a golf-bag-like environment to effectively prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders. By increasing the ability to take appropriate preventive measures against these symptoms.
