Abstract

This descriptive cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the current situation and processes of Parent School services in Health Region 2. A simple random sampling method, followed by purposive selection based on specified criteria, was used to recruit participants. Qualitative data were collected from 36 service providers and recipients in antenatal, postnatal, and well-child clinics. Quantitative data were collected from 102 postnatal women or caregivers of children aged 5 years or under who attended well-child clinics.

The research instrument was a two-part questionnaire: 1) general information and 2) information on participation in parent-school activities. The reliability, assessed using Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient, was 0.81. Statistical analyses included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.

The study revealed the current situation of Parent School Services in Health Region 2: Caregivers found participation convenient (mean = 3.97). There was a preference for video-based activities that could be self-accessed (57.8%), followed by question-and-answer channels such as LINE or Q&A boards (20.6%). Process of Parent School Services: The services were implemented according to the guidelines of the Department of Health, providing knowledge on self-care for pregnant women, child development, nutrition, and appropriate parenting skills.

This study suggests that parent-school services should improve the flexibility of activity formats to align with the lifestyles of postnatal women and child caregivers. This includes selecting suitable days and times, organizing activities in easily accessible locations, or utilizing a blended (onsite and online) format to increase participation opportunities.
