Abstract

The goal of chronic kidney disease care is to slow down kidney deterioration, especially in the early-stage chronic kidney disease, which is an important time for patients to take care of themselves and change their behaviors in a timely and continuous manner. However, the limitations of disease progression, perception and prognosis, as well as the difficulty and complexity of self-care all affect the patients’ behaviors. For effective patient self-care, the family must be involved in providing comprehensive care and support to the patients in various aspects.  This article presents the situation of chronic kidney disease, early stages of

chronic kidney disease, families and care for patients with chronic kidney disease in the early stages, family obstacles in the early stages of chronic kidney disease. And nurses promoting family roles in caring for patients with chronic kidney disease in the early stages. Families should be encouraged to participate in care to ensure the continuity of patients’ behavior and good clinical outcomes, to reduce the impacts of the disease in the future, and to maintain quality of life of patients.
