Abstract
This research aimed to investigate nursing ethical behaviors, specifically focusing on the comparison of ethical behaviors in nursing students at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Surat Thani, Faculty of Nursing, Praboromrajchanok Institute before and after the implementation of an instructional model based on authentic learning. Authentic learning experience has incorporating elements such as an ethics conference, an ethics round, an ethics report, and an ethics reflection. The study involved 127 second-year nursing students. Research instruments comprised questionnaires assessing nursing ethical behaviors during practical experience training and a teacher's manual designed for teaching through an instructional model rooted in authentic learning to cultivate ethical behavior in nursing students. The nursing ethical behaviors questionnaire demonstrated strong content validity (CVI = .90) and high reliability (Cronbach's alpha coefficient = .96). Data analysis involved the use of mean and standard deviation, along with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test.
The research findings revealed a statistically significant increase in the mean ethical behavior score of the sample group ( = 4.85, SD = .02) after the implementation of teaching and learning through an instructional model based on authentic learning, compared to the pre-arrangement score (
= 4.51, SD = .03) (Z = -8.51, p< .05).
Consequently, it is recommended that teaching and learning activities adopt an instructional model grounded in authentic learning throughout students' practical training in all subjects. This approach should be consistently applied from the second year onward to enhance students' awareness of professional ethics, enabling them to apply these principles appropriately in nursing practice and ultimately evolve into high-quality professional nurses.
