Social Activity Participation, Social Networks and Factors Influencing Social Activity Participation in the Elderly Club in Phitsanulok Municipality

Abstract

This study aimed to 1) study the level of participation in social activities; social networks and factors that hinder the participation in social activities of the elderly in Phitsanulok municipality and 2) to study a relationship between participating in social activities. The sample studied was elderly people in the Phraongkhaow Community Health Center living in Phitsanulok Municipality. The 213 sample was selected using a simple sample random method based on the inclusion criteria The data were collected by using questionnaires. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, and the relationship was Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient.


The results showed that participation in social activities of older adults in health centers the overall at a considerable level. (ð‘ĨĖ… = 2.83, SD = 1.095). Social networks and social activities were associated with high levels of positivity (r = .79, p = .001, and factors hindering participation in social activities at low levels with activity attendance (r = .34, p = .002) and significantly positively correlated at a statistically level of .05 in Phitsanulok Municipality.
