Main Article Content
Abstract
This study was a quasi-experimental research. It was purpose to study the effect of planned pain management program on pain and self-practice after abdominal surgery in abdominal injuries patients. The sample consisted of 52 patients. They were 26 subjects in each control and experimental group. Research tools include a planned pain management program using the symptom management concept of Dodd et al. (2001). The Research collection tools were 1) personal data record 2) pain self-management books 3) patient visit form and 4) self-practice form after abdominal surgery. Data were analyzed by frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard deviation. Chi-square test, Fisher’s exact test and Independent t –test.
Patients will receive a planned pain management program that provides pain relief at the end of 72 hours after in trauma surgical ward. There was a statistical significance at the .01 level (p<.01) and the Self-Practice after Abdominal Surgery score. The case of patients who did not follow the program after surgery would be the target of the statistical level of .001 (p<.001). Therefore, The planned pain management program should be applied to patients with abdominal injuries to alleviate pain and promote postoperative self-practice rehabilitation.
