Effects of Learning through Reflective Practices on Breastfeeding Promotion using Thai Herbs on Reflection Behavior of Nursing Students

Abstract
Quasi experimental research aimed to 1) compare reflective behaviors of nursing students before and after attending reflective learning process 2) compare reflective behaviors of nursing students on Breastfeeding Promotion using Thai Herbs before and after received the instructional management by promoting reflective thinking skills and regular teaching method, and 3) investigate nursing students’ opinions regarding the writing lesson learned reports from practicing. Samples were third-year 30 nursing students, faculty of nursing, Suan Dusit University. Samples were categorized into the experimental group and control group equally (N=15 in each group). This study was a quasi-experimental, two group pre-test, post-test design. The research instruments were the reflective thinking behaviors scores and opinion about writing lessons learned practicing reports. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistic, paired t-test and independent t-test.
The results of the study showed that 1) In experimental group, after completing the reflective learning class, mean scores of reflective behaviors of nursing students were higher than baseline with statistical significance at p<.05 2) the reflective behaviors mean scores of nursing students who received the instructional management by promoting reflective skills were higher compared to the control group with statistical significance at .5, and 3) Mean score of opinions regarding benefits of writing lessons learned from practicing was at a good level. Besides, the obstacles of writing lessons learned from practicing were at a moderate level. The results of this study could be a basic information to improve learning skill by using reflective practices skill learning among nursing students
