Factors Related to Passing the Nursing Council Licensure Examination of Undergraduate Nursing Students at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Chiangmai in Academic Year 2017

Abstract

This descriptive research aimed to identify factors related to passing the Nursing Council Licensure Examination among 103 undergraduate nursing students from Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Chiangmai in academic year 2017. Data were collected using a questionnaire developed by researchers. Reliability of the questionnaire was tested using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, yielding a value of 0.75. Descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and Fisher’s Exact Test were used to explain factors related results of the licensing exam.

The results revealed that Grade Point Average (GPA), and the scores of the PBRI comprehensive exam were significantly correlated with the Nursing Council Licensure Examination (p<0.1 and p<.05, respectively). However, attitude towards the licensure exam, exam preparation as well as attitude toward teaching and learning strategy had no significantly related to the licensure exam (p>.05).

Findings from this study can be used to develop teaching and learning strategies to focus on achievement and prepare the nursing students to pass the Nursing Council Licensure Examination as well as to enhance the quality of the educational institution in accordance with      the standards of the Thai Nursing Council.
