Abstract

This academic article aimed to present the useful concepts in the preparation of nursing students during their transitional phase from being student to entering into the nursing profession, creating awareness of nurses’ professional values, and factors enhancing nursing standard of care that are based on ethics. Nursing professionals must perform human-related tasks in order to maximize benefits for patients and families under holistic care. Nurses have to realize and perform actions that are moral, comprising respect for persons, fairness of care, patient's advocacy, responsibility, honesty for themselves and other healthcare professionals, and accepting differences in individual values and beliefs. However, the provision of professional nursing values is important for attitudes and reflection towards nursing practice in order to ensure high standards in care. Therefore, in the curriculum, preparation of nursing students before graduation should include not only knowledge and skills, but also nurse professional values.
