Abstract

This research and development aimed to develop and evaluate the outcomes of a clinical nursing practice guideline (CNPG) for peripheral arterial disease patients undergoing endovascular treatment by using Donabedian’s framework. The sample consisted of 40 professional nurses. The research instruments included a questionnaire on opinions regarding the implementation of the CNPG, the CNPG for patients with peripheral arterial disease who underwent endovascular treatment, and a monitoring record form for acute limb ischemia. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics.

The research findings revealed that: 1) the CNPG consisted of admission, preoperative, postoperative within 48 hours, and discharge phases. 2) the outcomes of implementing the CNPG, there were 3 cases of bleeding and 2 cases of hematoma. The average scores for the opinions on the implementation of the CNPG indicated a high level of agreement in all areas, such as appropriateness of language at 2.83 (SD = .38), optimal monitoring period at 2.85 (SD = .36), preoperative care at 3.00 (SD = .00), postoperative care at 3.00 (SD = .00), satisfaction with the CNPG at 2.88 (SD = .33), comprehensive preoperative assessment at 3.00 (SD = .00), support in monitoring postoperative complications at 2.95 (SD = .22), usefulness for discharge planning at 2.93 (SD = .27), and usefulness for nursing documentation at 2.98 (SD = .16). Therefore, the implementation of the CNPG should be promoted to ensure care for patients that aligns with professional standards.
