THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTREGRATIVE NURSING THERAPIES ON SCHIZOPHRENIC PATIENTS WITH VIOLENT BEHAVIOR

Objectives: To develop the integrative nursing therapies on Schizophrenic patients with violent behavior and evaluate self-management program for Schizophrenic patients with violent behavior (SMP).
Material and methods: This study was a research and development design (R&D). The study had the following 4 steps ; 1) problems and needs study using descriptive study to explore factors related to violent behavior among 117 Schizophrenic patients, including conducting 5 psychiatric nurses interview in nursing for Schizophrenic patients with violent behavior, 2) design and developing the program from step 1, 3) testing the program by using Quasi experimental research, implementation among 40 Schizophrenic patients with violent behavior, and then evaluated by using Prasri violent severity scale (PVSS) before, two weeks and sig weeks after receiving the program, and 4) evaluation and improvement for implementation in the organization.
Result: 1) The self-management program for Schizophrenic patients with violent behavior (SMP) program composed of 6 activities such as finding risk and protective factors, schizophrenia and violent behaviors, symptoms self-management, self-control of violent behaviors, coping and self-regulation, and self-evaluation. 2) After SMP program, mean scores of violent behaviors at two weeks, and four weeks follow-up were significantly lower than that at pre-test.
Conclusion: it found that the developed integrative nursing therapies program on Schizophrenic patients can increase efficiency for violent behavior-prevention.
