THE NURSING BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE TREATMENT BY ELECTRO-CONVULSIVE THERAPY THROUGHANESTHETICS MEDICINES

Abstract

Objective: Aims to study the nursing before, during and after the treatment by electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines and the result of symptoms after received the electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines.

Material and Method : This survey research the participants were 79 nurses who provide nursing to the patients before received electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines, 63 nurses who provide nursing to the patients while received electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines, 37 nurses providing nursing to the patients after receiving electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines and the result of treatment of  electroconvulsive  therapy  through  anesthetics  medicines  from  123  patients. The instruments were 1)  The questionnaire of provide nursing to the patients before received electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines. 2) The observation of nursing to  the  patients  while  received  electroconvulsive  therapy  through anesthetics medicines. 3) The observation of nursing to the patients after receiving electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines. 4)The  observation of  symptoms  after  treatment  receiving  electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines. The validity of treatment result was tested and the validity was 1 all 4 set and the data were analyzed for frequencies and mean.

Results: All nurses could provide nursing to the patients before, while and after receiving electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines with the correctness of 98.3%, 92.2% and 89.9% respectively. Amnesia was the most frequent side effect among 8.9% of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy received anesthesia while 0.8% were high blood pressure.

Conclusion: The study showed that the patient nursing before, during and after electroconvulsive therapy through anesthetics medicines can be applied in real treatment and can be taken as a standard practice nurses. Without any serious risks or complications.
