This quasi-experimental research study aimed to assess the skill levels and opinions of registered nurses concerning the implementation of nursing practice guidelines for patients with sepsis, as well as to evaluate the clinical outcomes associated with these guidelines at Sop Prap Hospital in Lampang Province. The study population comprised 1) 21 professional nurses and 2) 36 patients diagnosed with sepsis. Data collection occurred from April 1 to June 30, 2024. The experimental tools comprised 1) the nursing practice guidelines for patients with sepsis infections at SopPrap Hospital. 2) The evaluation of skill levels and perspectives questionnaire 3) The form was utilized to document the clinical results. The questionnaire was assessed for content validity, achieving an IOC score exceeding 0.5, while the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was determined to be 0.95. The analysis employed descriptive statistics and a paired t-test.
The results indicated that registered nurses had a high skill level and positive views about using Nursing Practice Guidelines (μ= 4.70, SD= 0.11), and they agreed on using clinical nursing practices (μ= 4.48, SD= 0.34). The evaluation of clinical results using the NEWS score showed that patients' treatment outcomes greatly improved 6 hours after treatment compared to the beginning, with a statistical significance level of 0.01. Of the patients with sepsis treated according to clinical nursing practice guidelines for bloodstream infections, 27 patients (75%) showed improvement and were discharged, whereas 9 patients (25%) were transferred to other hospitals. No deaths were recorded. The outcomes surpassed the treatment results observed before the implementation of the clinical nursing practice guidelines. The study illustrates the effectiveness of nursing practice guidelines for sepsis in clinical environments, highlighting their potential to standardize patient care and management.
