This action research aimed to evaluate the early childhood developmental assessment and promotion tool for children in highland ethnic groups in border security development village under the royal initiatives and border guard village in Mae Hong Son province. Samples were parents and preschool children (0-5 years old), 287 people per group (1 parent per 1 child). Data were collected by questionnaire and then analyzed by descriptive statistics, consisting of percentage, frequency, mean, and standard deviation.
The evaluation results of the early childhood developmental assessment and promotion tool for children in highland ethnic groups highlighted three main points as follows: 1) In terms of understanding of tool usage, 277 out of 287 samples, representing 96.52%, were able to use the tool correctly for developmental screening of children from birth to 5 years of age. 2) Results of early childhood development assessment by using early childhood in the highlands ethnic group development assessment and promotion tools by parents in the group who used the tool correctly, total 277 persons. It was found that 270 people had normal development, representing 97.47%, and suspected delay development of 7 people, representing 2.53%. When compared the results with early childhood development assessments results by using developmental surveillance and promotion Manual that assessed by health officer in normal system, found that both have no difference. 3) In terms of satisfaction, 98.60% of the participating parents declared most satisfied with the overall use of the tool. Therefore, there should be promote the using of early childhood in the highlands ethnic group development assessment and promotion tools for extend the result to fully coverage in other ethnic group areas.
