Abstract

The study aimed to explore relationships between health literacy and 3E 2S health behaviors among the elderly with diabetes in Mueang Lampang District. Participants were 450 elders who were diagnosed with diabetes and lived in Mueang Lampang District. Participants were selected using multi-stage random sampling method. Research instrument were the health literacy and 3E 2S health behavior assessment questionnaires. Data were analyzed using for frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson's correlation coefficient.

The findings showed that the mean 3E 2S health literacy score of the elderly with diabetes was at moderate level ( = 2.39, SD = .60). The mean 3E 2S health behavior of elderly with diabetes was at a good level (  = 4.10, SD = .57). There was a statistically significant relationship between 3E 2S health literacy and health behavior (r = .372, p<.001)

Per the findings, public health personnels should develop 3E 2S health literacy activities to promote 3E 2S health behaviors in the elderly with diabetes.
