Effects of Distance Education Program on Knowledge and Self Care Behaviors for Decreasing Iron Accumulation among Adolescence with Thalassemia in Lampang Province

This quasi-experimental research aimed to Effects of Distance Education Program on Knowledge and Self Care Behaviors for Decreasing Iron Accumulation among Adolescence with Thalassemia in Lampang Province patients aged 12 to 15-year-old, to choose from the control group and the experimental group, 10 people per group. The control group received regular nursing care and the experimental group received a distance education program consisting of multimedia videos. and electronic books Assessed by the iron overload knowledge test. The KR-20 confidence value was 0.70 and the self-care behavior assessment questionnaire based on Orem's self-care conceptual framework. and the self-care behavior assessment form based on Orem's self-care concept. Monitoring, stimulating and assessing behavior through Line application Cronbach's alpha coefficient method had a reliability of 0.86. Data were analyzed by Distribution of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test statistics.
Results show that: 1) After experiment, the mean score of Knowledge and Self- care behaviors in the experimental group was statistically significantly higher than those in the control group (p<.05). Therefore, public health facilities or related agencies Able to apply distance education programs to increase service efficiency.
