The Relationship between Health Literacy and Behaviors Regarding Rabies Prevention and Control of People in Mueang District, Phayao Province

Abstract

        This research aims to assess the level of health literacy and behaviors regarding rabies prevention and control as well as to test the relationship between health literacy about rabies and behaviors regarding rabies prevention and control behaviors of people. This descriptive research was implemented in Mueang District, Phayao Province. 393 participants aged over 15 years were recruit using stratified random sampling. The research tool was a questionnaire in the form for asking frequency of practice at 3 levels. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square was used to test the hypothesis.

            The research findings revealed as followed: 1) People's health literacy about rabies was at a moderate level and behaviors regarding rabies prevention and control were at a moderate level with sometimes practiced. 2) One factor: the district where they lived was related to health literacy with statistically significance at the 0.05 level; whereas, gender, age, family income, education level, occupation, animal husbandry were no statistically significant correlate with health literacy. 3) Factors:the district where they lived, Gender, age, family income, education level, occupation, animal husbandry were no statistically significant correlate with behaviors regarding rabies prevention and control. 4) Media literacy in rabies prevention and control was related to behaviors regarding rabies prevention and control with statistically significance at the 0.05 level.
