Evaluation of Lab-Based Teaching, Course Specification: Primary Medical Care in the Situation of the Epidemic of the Coronavirus Disease 2019

This research aims to evaluate lab-based teaching (LBT) in the primary medical care course in the situation of the COVID-19 epidemic according to the evaluation of the CIPP model. There were 4 aspects: context, input factor, process, and outcome evaluations. A total of 158 nursing students were chosen, with 20 recruited using simple random sampling. The measurement tool was included evaluation of adapted LBT course research questionnaires and focused group interviews. The statistics were used in the data analysis: Descriptive statistics and in-depth interviews and Thematic analysis
The results were shown that the input-factor of LBT course during pandemic COVID-19 was moderate and high level, 43.04% and 42.41% respectively.The overall of teaching of educators which included the empowerment, respect, and equality was at high level (μ= 4.61, σ = 0.46), and learning outcomes such as knowledge and intellectual skills of nursing students passed specified criteria at a good level (93.04). Additionally, the in-depth interview showed that nursing students were satisfy and enthusiastic in analyzing a new situation promptly, being positive thinking, being challenging, and having knowledge in searching for information. These effectively reflected positive outcomes and values from nursing students’ teaching and learning that related to the learning of the century 21 and learning outcomes of the course characteristics during the Covid-19 pandemic.
