Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the factors influencing the health status of late adolescents in Muang District, Lampang Province. The population of this study were people aged 16-19 who have lived in Muang district for at least 6 months. The sample was 400 people.  The questionnaires were used for data collection.

The results of this study, using multiple regression analysis, revealed that the factors influencing the health status of the late adolescence in Muang District, Lampang Province, include 7 variables, namely; gender, self-management awareness, understanding towards health, vehicles used in commuting, access to information and health services, family support, and social health policy (from school/community). These variables, together, predicted the outcome of the percentage of health status with a statistical significance of 0.05 (P-value = 0.000), both of which could account for 65.7 percent of the variation in the health status index (R2 = 43.2).

Recommendations from the study: with an aim to develop guidelines for the care and development of healthy adolescents to reduce potential health risk, network partners from educational institutions, public health sectors, and community sectors should promote and support the health service policy, assistance in developing activities, and organization of the programs building the capacity to enhance health condition among the Thai adolescents that meet with their needs.
