Associated Factors with Knowledge and Behaviors of Self-Prevention in Stroke Risk Group,Sala Sub-district, Koh Kha District Lampang Province

This cross-sectional survey aimed to study 1) Health belief, knowledge and health behaviors affected self stroke prevention 2) Associated factors between personal data, health belief and knowledge affected self stroke prevention and 3) Associated between knowledge and behaviors affected self stroke prevention. The sample consisted of 248 people aged 30-59 years living in Sala Subdistrict, Ko Kha District, Lampang Province, using multistage sampling. Research tool used was 4 part questionnaires with consisted of personal data, health beliefs, behaviors and knowledge of self-protection againt stroke. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and the chi-square test.
The results showed most of the sample size had perceptions of health beliefs as a whole of 218 people (87.90%) especially perception of the severity of the disease had the highest perception (95.16%). Self-defense behaviors at a moderate level, and knowledge of self-protection against most diseases was at a moderate level. Personal factors including age, income, congenital disease, and family illness history were associated with knowledge level of self-stroke prevention at a statistically significant level 0.05, Health belief factor was associated with the knowledge level of self-stroke prevention about perceived severity of disease, benefit and barrier at a statistically significant level 0.05. The knowledge factor of self-stroke prevention was associated with self-stroke preventive behaviors such as food, beverage and alcohol consumption at a statistical significance level 0.05.
