The Effectiveness of Using the Nutrition Symbols: Healthierlogo Program in the Consumer Group Wiang Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lampang Province

This study was a two-group quasi-experimental study, were measured by pre- and post-test.To study the effectiveness of using the nutrition symbols: healthierlogo in consumer group.The sample is the consumer group in Muang District, Lampang Province totaled 124 people, divided into a control group of 62 people and a trial group of 62 people. The control group being operated normally. The experimental group was given a 7-week program of using the nutrition symbols: healthierlogo.Data were collected using the knowledge assessment form, recognize the consumer's performance on the nutrition symbols: healthierlogo assessment form and sodium salt intake. The confidence value of Cronbach's Alpha Knowledge is .77 and .86, respectively. Personal data analysis of the samples was used with descriptive statistics. Comparing knowledge perception of one's competence and sodium consumption of the experimental group before and after the program with Paired-Samples t-test and between the experimental and control groups using independent t-test.
The results of the study showed that 1) after participating in the program of using the nutrition symbols: healthierlogo have lower dietary sodium intake levels than before joining the program with statistical significance at p=0.007. Whereas the knowledge and perception of self-efficacy on the nutrition symbols: healthierlogo was not statistically different. 2) The experimental group perceived their mission higher in terms of credit and reduction in the amount of bullying than the control group and the amount of sodium salt in the diet was lower than the control group were statistically significant at the p < .001. While the knowledge of the nutrition symbols: healthierlogo was not different statistically.
Therefore, using of the nutrition symbol: healthierlogo in consumer group should be promoted. To achieve a better perception of self-efficacy and reduce salt intake of sodium in those at risk of Non-Communicable diseases.
