The objective of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the relationship between knowledge and practices of migrant health volunteers on dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and control in Mae Sot City Municipality, Mae Sot District, Tak Province. The samples of this study were 100 migrant health volunteers in Mae Sot Municipality. The research instrument was a questionnaire divided into 3 parts: Demographic data, Knowledge of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and Practices on DHF Prevention and Control. Data were collected by public health officers as interpreters for the respondents. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics for determining the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s correlation analysis.
The results revealed that most of the sample had a high level of DHF knowledge (57.00%). In addition, most of the sample had a moderate level of DHF prevention and control practices (49.00%). Furthermore, DHF knowledge was low positive relation with practices of the sample on dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and control with a statistical significance level (r = 0.386; P = .017). Therefore, sufficient knowledge on dengue hemorrhagic fever will help in prevention and control. Thus, the researchers recommend that dengue fever prevention and control training program should be organized in the migrant communities with emphasis on educating towards the operations.
