Factor that Influence Decision Making about Getting Dental Treatments in Social Security Recipients in NakhonSawan Province,2020

Abstract

          The purposes of this research are to study the human behavior and to study a decision making on dental treatment in Social Security recipients in Nakhonsawan Province. This survey research collected data by using both on paper questionnaires and an electronic (Google) form.  The data was analyzed behavior and decision making on dental treatment in Social Security recipients in amount of 451 samples based on the variables of demographics and duration of having Social Security using descriptive statistics; frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The one-way ANOVA test at the statistical significance level of .05 and LSD was used for group comparison.

            The result showed that the ratio between female and male was about 2:1, 73.2% and 26.8, respectively. Age range between 20 and 57 years old with average of age at 32 (SD 8.12). 97.6% used to claim the Social Security for dental treatment. 63.5% used the service at government hospitals. 54.6% have had the dental treatment every year. 60.5% used over-claim of Social Security Scheme budget. The average of over payment was approximately 590 Baht. The most popular dental service was calcium scale removing (65.1%). 48.4% of those made a decision making from a direct disbursement. 78.1% chose services by themselves. The samples have had dental treatment before they had the social security scheme or had direct disbursement 61.7%, 51.8 % respectively. Rationale for dental treatment was having dental symptoms (65.8%). Five (5) reasons for decision making on dental treatment were; 1) trustworthy (85.8%), 2) dental services (84.7%), 3) process and establishment (82.7%), 4) staffs (82.6%) and 5) location of the dental office (81.6%). Furthermore, gender, status, education, occupation, income and duration of having Social Security were significant difference in terms of trustworthy, dental services, process and establishment, staffs and location of the dental office whereas the age showed not  significant difference on those 5-item of decision making.
