Abstract

This survey research aimed to study the factors correlated with the breakfast consumption behavior of 1-4 years nursing students, Srinakharinwirot University. The 196 nursing students or 49 persons per year participated in this study by sample random sampling. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS program to obtain the frequency, percentage, Pearson correlation coefficient (rp) and spearman rank correlation coefficient (rs) for finding the factors associated with breakfast consumption behavior of nursing students.             The results found that:         1) age and year of students was significantly negatively correlated with breakfast consumption behavior at rp =-.289 and rs =-.265, p=.001, respectively, which means that the age and year of students inversely related with breakfast consumption behavior, 2) hastiness (time from wake up until study time) was significantly positively correlated with breakfast consumption behavior (rp =.362, p=.001), which means that hastiness was varied with breakfast consumption behavior. BMI, income, and nutritional knowledge did not significantly correlate with food consumption behavior (p>.05).  The results of this study were basic information for the design and development of implementation to solve this problem in nursing students by focusing on the curriculum that is adjusted to facilitate students to have more time for breakfast.
