Competency Assessment, Problem Management and Coordination of Health Workers in Patient / Bed-Ridden Elderly Caring, Ngao District of Lampang Province

Competency Assessment, Problem Management and Coordination of Health Workers were the main component to service in patient / bed-ridden elderly caring and their family. The objective was to study the competency assessment, problem management and coordination of health workers. Descriptive research was performed. The sample group was 65 persons in family doctor team in Ngao District, Lampang Province. Collected the data by using the questionnaires consisted of the competency assessment, problem management and coordination of health workers in patient / bed-ridden elderly caring. Result: Totally 65 sample group of health workers showed that: 60 percent was female, 43.1 percent was public health officer, 50.8 percent was in charge of primary hospital officer in Ngao district, 58.5 percent was indirect responsiveness for patient/ bed-ridden elderly caring and 56.9 percent was not training in this job. The research study showed that the whole vision mainly was in the medium level, only the case of provincial coordination which had a low level ( xˉ = 2.26, S.D.= 0.75). Problem management also was at the medium level. There were 2 less items that were the competency assessment of convulsion or seizure ( xˉ = 2.38, S.D.= 0.74) and finance ( xˉ = 2.36, S.D.= 0.76). Problem management also was at the medium level and showed the less 5 items those were swallowing capacity ( xˉ = 2.29, S.D.= 0.70), convulsion or seizure ( xˉ = 2.23, S.D.= 0.82) , urinary incontinence ( xˉ = 2.27, S.D.= 0.76) , stool incontinence ( xˉ = 2.29, S.D.= 0.78) and finance( xˉ = 2.24, S.D.= 0.91) . In addition the health worker’s opinion in patient / bedridden elderly caring were practicable and relevant to patient and family’s need and resulted to the satisfaction at the medium level. Conclusion and Suggestion: The health worker policy could be clearified to the respondents. Training in assessment, problem management in patient / bed-ridden elderly caring was necessary. The health worker in provincial coordination and problem management involved the urine and stool extraction, together with financial status could also be developed. This will give rise to the best of life quality.
