Abstract

The two-group quasi-experimental study compared before and after aimed to study the effect of a program of caring for pregnant women with diabetes mellitus by using family participation in dietary behaviors, exercise, family participation, and blood sugar in pregnant women. The sample group was pregnant women with risk factors for gestational diabetes and their families of the Health Center 7, Khon Kaen by 40 pairs. The sample was randomly assigned to the experimental group and control group.Each group had 20 pairs. Simple random sampling. The sample group participated in the program 3 times. Data were collected with questionnaires created by the researcher. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient confidence value was 0.95. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and statistical testing by Wilcoxon Man-Whitney U. The results showed that. This program makes 1. Diet Behavior Scores, exercise scores, and participation in caring for pregnant woman scores of the experimental group after using the program were higher than the control group by statistically significantly at .05. 2. After using the program pregnant women with diabetes risk factors in the experimental group had normal blood sugar levels than the control group. Therefore, this program should be used in the care of pregnant women who are at risk of diabetes to avoid gestational diabetes.
