การศึกษาปัจจัยทำนายระยะเวลาการเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่อย่างเดียวในมารดาวัยรุ่นที่มารับบริการที่โรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบลในจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี The Study of Factors Predicting the Duration of Exclusive Breastfeeding in Adolescent Mothers Who attended Service at Health Promoting Hospital in Ubonratchathani Province

Abstract

Nowadays, The exclusive breastfeeding at least 6 months rate in Thailand are below target especially in adolescent mothers. There are several factors contributing to a longer duration of exclusive breastfeeding such as knowledge, social support, etc. This a cross-sectional analytical research aimed to study the factors predicting the duration of exclusive breastfeeding in adolescent mothers. The sample group was mothers under the age of 20 years and had children aged 6 months to 1 year who visited to receive services in well-baby clinic at attending health promotion hospital in Ubonratchathani Province, 94 people. The instruments used in the research were demographic data questionnaires, knowledge about the benefits and method of exclusive breastfeeding questionnaire, attitude of exclusive breastfeeding questionnaire, health service accessibility questionnaire, skill of exclusive breastfeeding questionnaire, social support of exclusive breastfeeding questionnaire and duration of exclusive breastfeeding questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistic, Peason’s product moment correlation coefficient and Stepwise multiple linear regression analysis.

The results revealed that predictive factors for the duration of exclusive breastfeeding were social support (β =.472, p< .05) and knowledge about the benefits and method of exclusive breastfeeding (β = .340, p< .05). Two factors were significant predictors of duration of exclusive breastfeeding accounting for 58.8 % (R² = .588, R²Adjusted = .579, F = 64.996, p< .05)

The results finding can be applied as a guideline to promote adolescent mothers to have exclusive breastfeeding at least 6 months. Nurses should give husbands and mothers of adolescent mothers to participate in learning about exclusive breastfeeding and nurses should provide knowledge about the benefits and method of exclusive breastfeeding with adolescent mothers.
